Palma & Puerto Portals. Palma's old town and the Puerto Portals marina reward a car that suits valet parking and short, deliberate drives between restaurants and boutiques. Traffic through Avenidas is dense at midday, so an early or late departure suits a coupe better than a large SUV.

Serra de Tramuntana toward Sa Calobra. The road down to Sa Calobra is narrow, with tight switchbacks and limited passing space, so a compact sports car or a well-sized convertible handles it more comfortably than a long-wheelbase model. Parking near the cove is scarce in high season, so timing the drive outside peak hours helps.

Colonia de Sant Jordi, gateway to Cabrera. This southern harbour town is the departure point for boats to Cabrera National Park, and the drive there runs along open, flat roads well suited to a convertible. Renting for the day makes sense if the plan includes an early boat and a late return.

Deià and Valldemossa. Both villages sit on the same mountain corridor and combine narrow lanes with a concentration of design hotels and small restaurants. Street parking is limited, so a driver who values discretion over size will find a mid-size sports car easier to place than a larger SUV.

Alcúdia and the northern bays. The bay of Alcúdia offers calmer, more open driving than the Tramuntana routes, with wider roads suited to a longer touring car. It works well for guests staying near the northern marinas who want a fast link back to Palma without mountain switchbacks.
